• [Mandatory] Type of image (backlight, photograph, etc.)
• [Mandatory] Height of image in mm
• [Mandatory] Width of the image in mm
• [Optional] Textual metadata:
  • Earliest possible date
  • Latest possible date
  • Country

Output:

• A result set of matching similar images, ordered by degree of similarity

Difficulties:

• Partial images
• Databases do not support image search (!)
• Algorithm/software availability
• Increase in number of databases increases difficulty of comparisons

Other Information:

• Gamera project at Johns Hopkins University in the US has image analysis software.
